The Königssee is situated a short distance from Berchtesgaden and the Obersalzberg. It makes a very nice excursion for when you get bored of seeing Third Reich sites.
The water is amazingly clean, only electric boats are allowed. The water starts off being beautifully crystal clear in the shallow bits towards the shore, and then turning into a deep green towards the deeper sections. The church at St. Bartholomä looks very pleasant compared to the rocky mountains in the background.
