Originally called the Teehaus, the house was built by the Nazi party as a 50th birthday present for Hitler.
Not to be confused with the original Teehaus, named Mooslahnerkopf or occasionally Moslanderkopf by Eva Braun which far closer to the rest of the buildings in the Obersalzberg.
The portal to the tunnel. The stone above the portal says “Erbaut 1938″ or “Built 1938″.

The tunnel is lined with marble.

The tunnel could be heated with warm air from the service tunnel, which runs parallel to the passenger tunnel. The service tunnel houses the MAN diesel u-boat engine which provided emergency power to operate the lift.

The domed waiting area to enter the lift.

The domed roof.

Marble was used in abundance.

The brass-lined lift. In the Band of Brothers Episode 10, “Points”, it was incorrect stated that the lift was gold.

The sun lounge. Originally there was no windows so the area was open.

A period photo of Hitler sitting on the sun terrace, from the other end.

View from slightly higher up the Kehlstein mountain.

A view towards the Kehlstein mountain summit.

The original fireplace. Unfortunately, it has been vandalised by “souvenir hunters”.

The road to the Eagle’s Nest. Entry is only avaible by bus.

Most of the road is only wide enough for a single vehicle. There are two locations where the road is wide enough for two vehicles. Buses descending from the summit stop whilst those ascending pass. Ascents and descents must be carefully time to ensure that the buses are in the right place.

As viewed from the Hotel zum Türken.
