Today, there is a barbed wire fence outside the bunker. The wooden doors have rotted away, and all that remains are the large metal hinges.

I have no idea if this is coal that has been located in the area for 60-odd years, but it certainly caught my eye – sadly it’s slightly out of focus.

Coal was poured into the bunker from above, falling down the chute.

The doors are very rotten, only some of the hinges remain.

A photo from the side. It gives a good illustration of the size of the building, and also of the way that it is built into the hilside.

There’s lots of barbed wire to prevent you getting onto the top of the structure. Possibly a good idea, as I’ve no idea what might be there – rotten wood?

A view from the road above the coal bunker from where the coal was tipped in.

If you turn around, you see the only bridge that is part of the Kehlstein mountain road.
