The Americans forces who were defending Noville were forced to withdraw. This led to the German forces re-taking Noville on 21st December 1944. The Germans murdered various villagers as a result of this. There is a memorial in Noville to comemmorate them. It commemmorates Abbe Delvaux Louis, Beaujean Roger, Deprez Felix, Depres François, Lutgen Auguste, Henkinet Romain, Rosiere Joseph and Stranen Michel.
The church in Noville was destroyed during the war. It was rebuilt in 1954.
